Original 1st printing 13 x 20" silkscreen concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Universal Parking Lot (*not billed- late addition) appearing together in a benefit for the Lick Wilmerding School (an early alternative private school), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 12/27/1966.
Art by P. Linenthal, thick flat pulpy vellum "chipboard" stock hand-pulled silkscreen poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; there are a series of hard horizontal roll creases traversing the image area in several places (from top to bottom, covering most of the image area), a few scattered edge/corner dings, a light amount of surface wear and a couple of small diagonal corner bends, otherwise fine.
Unusual "oddball" early (1966) Avalon benefit poster, these posters come in several different color combinations- this is the yellow/blue ink version (there is also a yellow/black version). The handbill for this show (completely different image) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 106 (plate 2.17).
