Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" concert flyer for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.

 

 Art by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse (who also has HAND-SIGNED the piece in pencil), image ("Frankenstein") is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

 

 Thin flat stock flyer is in beautiful near mint (A- to A-/B+) condition; just a couple of soft handling dings here and there, otherwise it is a GORGEOUS crisp/bright ARTIST-SIGNED example of this VERY early Grateful Dead flyer from the Avalon.

 

 This was reportedly the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic early G.D.!
