 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 15&1/2 x 23&1/2" concert poster for "ZZ Top's 1st Annual Texas Size Rompin' Stompin' Barn Dance and Bar-B-Q", featuring the aforementioned ZZ Top, along with (not listed) Santana, Bad Company (*with special guest Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin on guitar) and Joe Cocker appearing at the University of Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX on 9/1/1974.

Art by Bill Narum, medium-thin flat vellum stock flyer is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; most of the conditional issues are along the top margin/edge- there are a number of tiny nips, an odd-shaped wedge tear and "worm hole" in the top left edge above "ZZ Top" (looks like the bugs got to it), along with a thin 2&1/2" tape residue stain in the top center margin, a few thin diagonal bends along the upper right edge, a series of thin "chips" on the reverse that result in a few tiny holes and thinned areas along the upper part of the image area, along with a few stray edge dings, a thin horizontal bend in the upper right part of the blue field in the right side, a touch of toning, a few tiny edge/corner dings, tape marks/residue and a few pieces of clear tape on the reverse, otherwise fine.

REALLY COOL and MEGA-SCARCE Bill Narum-designed ZZ Top item from their largest-ever home state show. The show was attended by some 80,000 people, including our consignor, who also relates that this is only the SECOND example of this poster he has seen in over 40 years since the show. Apparently, the University was not prepared for the MASSIVE crowd of rowdy ZZ Top fans, so as a result, this was the last show held at the stadium for quite some time. Check out fan-shot photos and 1st-hand recollections of the show HERE:
