Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.
Art by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, image is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in excellent to near mint (B+ to A-/B+) condition; a tiny discoloration in the top left corner, a couple of very tiny edge/corner bumps (pinch dings) scattered around the outer margins, a few nearly-invisible light surface dings and a trio of ultra-tiny pin holes between the second "D" of "Dead" and the "L" of "Camel", otherwise fine.
An overall GORGEOUS example of this 1st printing Grateful Dead poster from the Avalon. According to what I've been told, this was also reportedly the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic Dead!
