Original 1st printing 14&1/2 x 20&1/4" event poster for the 1st Annual KTBT Freak Fair, an underground radio-sponsored event held at the Orange County International Raceway in Irvine, CA on 2/8/1969. Art by Lombard, the image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 272 (plate 3.62). Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; a fair amount of curl to the paper and a few thin horizontal stress bends from the poster being rolled a bit too tightly, a few scattered edge/corner dings and a stray nick/small tear or two around the outer margins and a couple of very small corner/edge creases, otherwise fine. An ultra-weird (and very neat-looking) Southern California oddball poster from the Art of Rock, this one almost never surfaces. Apparently KTBT was a very short-lived "free-form" FM station that operated out of (of all places) a booth in the middle of a stereo store in a shopping center in suburban Garden Grove, CA. The station was allegedly a tax write-off for the owners, who would apparently change programming formats whenever it began showing a profit. The station's underground rock format was VERY brief, existing for less than a year.
