Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" hand-addressed mailed concert flyer for the Grateful Dead appearing with the Oxford Circle at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 11/4-5/1966 (dates listed on flyer are 11/3-4).
Art by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, image is # 33 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Thin flat stock flyer is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; a pair of horizontal folds (as issued, item was folded into 1/3rd for mailing purposes), tack holes/corner wear with a couple of tiny pull tears in the top right corner tip, toning, a fairly heavy amount of corner/edge wear, a rusty staple just above the "m" of "Family" with corresponding wedge tears on the hatband and just above "Tickets",along with a hand-written (in blue pen) address, 5 cent stamp and 11/2/1966 postmark on the reverse, otherwise fine.
While the condition on this example may be somewhat challenged, the fact that it made it through the postal system intact, along with the original canceled stamp make it stand out as one of the more unique early Family Dog item's I have come across. Neat little original Grateful Dead mailer!
