Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" Grateful Dead Fan Club-issued mailed concert flyer for the Grateful Dead making their New York City debut at the Cafe Au Go-Go in Greenwich Village from 6/1-10/1967 (Deadbase lists the dates as June 6-11), along with a hand-written blurb about free concerts to be held in NYC parks. Artist unknown (perhaps one of the Fan Club officers- Sue Swanson?), the Daniel Fennell-designed poster image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 305 (plate 3.163). Thin flat stock flyer is in good (B) condition; a pair of horizontal folds (as issued), a 1" piece of brown tape residue in the top center, a bit of toning/creasing and a few tiny edge nicks along the top/left margins, a thin tape pull on the reverse side of the word "hear", a 1" diagonal bend in the top left corner, a tiny stain and 1/8" tear in the top margin, a bit of ink smear around the addressee's name (a few drops of water have blotted out part of the address, and I have partially obscured the person's name/address... just in case they're still there), plus a few thin surface dings and a stray smudge or two, otherwise fine. AN INCREDIBLY SCARCE SUPER-EARLY Grateful Dead item from their NYC debut, this particular example was mailed to an early Fan Club member in New Jersey (the band hadn't even been off the West Coast yet!) and has a canceled USPS stamp marked May 26th, 1967. A VERY, VERY cool and important Grateful Dead item, only one I've ever seen!
