Original 1st printing 14 x 19&1/4" concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin *-canceled/replaced), along with H.P. Lovecraft and the Clara Ward Singers at the Carousel Ballroom In San Francisco, CA from 5/24-26/1968.

 

 Art by the Crazy Arab, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 180 (plate 2.164). This is one of the "blocked" versions (see below).

 

 Medium-thin flat index stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; aside from a set of clean pin/tack holes (one in each corner), a touch of toning, a few stray edge dings and a hint of handling, it's a fantastic-looking example of this oft-requested Carousel Ballroom poster.

 

*Big Brother backed out of the show and a number of posters (such as this one) were distributed with the band's name crossed out with different colored magic markers. They were replaced on the bill by Mad River (thanks to Ross for the info!)
