Original 1st printing 16&1/2 x 24" concert/event poster for the 8/22-24/1969 Wild West Festival, which was to be held at San Francisco's Kezar Stadium (later downsized to a pair of events at the Fillmore West and the Family Dog on the Great Highway). Artist unknown/uncredited, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 203 (plate 2.233). Poster lists would-be festival participants the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Turk Murphy (8/22), Mike Bloomfield, Nick Gravenites and Friends, the Edwin Hawkins Singers, the Fourth Way, Jefferson Airplane and the Sons of Champlin (8/23), Country Joe & the Fish, Santana, Sly & the Family Stone the Steve Miller Band and the Youngbloods (8/24). Medium-thin index stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; a 1/4" diagonal nip out of the top left corner, a few stray pin-prick age spots (foxing), a few tiny thin horizontal stress bends and pinch dings and a stray edge ding or two, otherwise fine. Uncommon Grateful Dead/Janis/Festival item from the Art of Rock book, this example comes right from the collection of a one-time GD crew member (who was probably supposed to work at this event).
