 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 28&1/2 x 22" concert poster for the Who appearing with the James Cotton Blues Band and Magic Sam on 8/13-15/1968, Creedence Clearwater Revival appearing with It's A Beautiful Day and Albert Collins on 8/16-18/1968, the Grateful Dead appearing with the Kaleidoscope (featuring David Lindley) and Albert Collins on 8/20-22/1968, and Quicksilver Messenger Service appearing with Spooky Tooth and Cold Blood on 8/23-25/1968, all shows held at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA.  Art by Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley, image is #133 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series. Medium-thick flat index stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; a 2" vertical tear in the bottom left margin and a 1/2" tear in the upper right corner tip, a set of tack holes (all four corners), a soft vertical roll bend/wave in the upper right corner, a few scattered edge/corner nicks and tiny edge creases, a few minor handling dings/fingerprints scattered here and there, otherwise a very presentable example of the "Bloom" image. One of the more impressive double-sized Fillmore posters, this one has really great colors (a Griffin trademark) and a fantastic design. Interestingly enough, this design was originally submitted to the Family Dog and had completely different bands in the left/right panels. Chet Helms couldn't afford to have it printed in color, so RG took it over to Bill Graham and it was re-purposed for these shows. Crafty!
