Original 1st printing 5&1/4 x 7&3/4" concert handbill for an all-day event featuring the Grateful Dead appearing with Buddy Miles Express* (apparently canceled), the Sons of Champlin, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Mother Earth, Curly Cooke's Hurdy-Gurdy Band, Ace of Cups, the Youngbloods and Phoenix at the Del Mar Fairgrounds (near San Diego), CA on 9/22/1968. Art by Rebecca Galdeano (uncredited), the image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 3285 (plate 3.97). Thin glossy stock handbill is in absolutely stunning mint/near mint (A/A- to A-) condition; maybe there's a stray handling ding or two, but it's probably the cleanest example of this uncommon regional Southern California Dead handbill I've ever seen... read all about the gig (with comments by attendees) HERE:
