Original 1st printing 14 x 22&1/2" concert/event poster (archivally matted with linen tape on acid-free matting under UV plexiglas in a wood frame to 20&5/8 x 27&1/4" total size) for the 1/14/1967 Gathering of the Tribes/Human Be-In, held at the Polo Grounds in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. This version of the poster lists appearances by counterculture heroes Lenore Kandel, Timothy Leary, Michael McClure, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Richard Alpert, Jerry Rubin, Dick Gregory, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and "all SF rock bands" (which included Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Charlatans, the Grateful Dead and more). Art by Rick Griffin, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 197 (plate 2.216). Medium flat vellum stock poster is in absolutely fantastic near mint (A-/B+) condition; aside from just the slightest touch of handling and a thin line around the outer edges of the poster that are covered up underneath the matte, otherwise a trophy-level example of this classic Rick Griffin image, all ready to hang.
