 ITEM DESCRIPTION
Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" concert poster for Quicksilver Messenger Service with the Sons of Champlin and Taj Mahal and the Blue Flames at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 10/27-29/1967. Art by Rick Griffin, image ("Mornin' Papa") is number 89 in the Family Dog/Avalon series. Medium flat stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; several scattered staple holes (about 10-11 total in all four corners and at various random points throughout the image), a small brown stain in the lower right corner (tape residue from the reverse) with a small pull, an area of subtle toning/discoloration in the upper right quadrant, numerous tiny surface scuffs/dings, minor handling wear and a couple of small pen scratches on the reverse (top center and lower left corner) otherwise fine- it's really quite charming, a very decent-looking example of this perennial Griffin favorite. This piece comes from the collection of Sanford Tucker, proprietor of the legendary "Sanford's" and "Velvet Underground" clothing stores of San Francisco. Be sure to check out other listings for more items from this eclectic and very cool collection.
