 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 18 x 24" concert poster for the Weeds (AKA "The Lollipop Shoppe", featuring legendary garage rocker Fred Cole) with Gary Ewing and Dr. P.H. Martin's Magic Medicine Show (lights) at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR on 2/23-24/1968. Art by the aforementioned Gary Ewing, image is number P-2 (the second poster in the official numbered series) in the Family Dog/Portland series. Medium glossy stock (similar to photo-stat paper) poster is in OK/used (B- to B-/C+) condition; a pretty heavy amount of edge wear (several small to decent-sized tears scattered along all of the edges, (about 1"- 4" each), a 2" chunk out of the left side, creasing, a few small holes, etc., a decent amount of surface wear (surface scrapes/scratches, etc...), handling creases/pinch dings, etc.- the photo should prove that this item is obviously quite used. HOWEVER... it is the ONLY one of these I've EVER seen (it is a PREVIOUSLY UNDOCUMENTED version of a VERY UNCOMMON Family Dog image- it's not in the Eric King guide). This one came with a LARGE collection of Crystal Ballroom posters (see other listings) that were obtained right from the venue itself- it could very likely be a one-off box-office advertisement, I'm not quite sure. At any rate, this is likely a singular example of this image in this large format. REALLY unique Crystal Ballroom/Family Dog item. Be sure to check out our other listings for a wide selection of original posters and handbills from Oregon, including several really unique one-of-a-kind items. Check out an EXTENSIVE gig list/history of the Crystal Ballroom during the late '60's HERE:
