Original 1st printing 17&1/2 x 20&1/2" aluminum printer's plate for a benefit concert poster (to provide funding for a community center in Mississippi and for medical aid to Vietnam), held at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 3/12/1967.
Plate ("Phoenix Dance" or "Phoenix-Sunflower Benefit") lists appearances by Quicksilver Messenger Service, along with Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Country Joe & the Fish and the Steve Miller Blues Band.
Art by Michael Hubbard, image is not a numbered Bill Graham/Fillmore image (this show falls on the same date as the BG 54 show) and is featured in the Art of Rock on page 145 (plate 2.47).
Thick aluminum plate is in good/very good (B/B+) condition; there are a few surface dings/scuffs and little smudges all over the plate, along with a thin vertical strip of dark ink drip/smear going down the left side of the image area, a bit of oxidation on the reverse... all typical signs of "shop wear" from the press room. As it is a one-of-a-kind piece of production material, a letter grade doesn't really apply here, but all told it is in pretty decent shape.
REALLY cool/unique original 1967 oddball Fillmore item!
