Original 1st printing 27&1/4 x 40&3/4" (linen-backed to 28&5/8 x 42" total size) Leacock/Pennebaker Films one-sheet poster for "Monterey Pop", D.A. Pennebaker's 1968 documentary about the Monterey International Pop Festival, originally held at the Monterey (CA) Fairgrounds Arena (and surrounding area) from 6/16-18/1967. Art by Tomi Ungerer (who also did the titles for the film), thin glossy stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; aside from the aforementioned linen-backing (for stability and to press out the as-issued factory folds), there don't appear to be any real serious issues on this piece other than a few small fingerprint smudges and a tiny bit of edge wear- it looks pretty sharp overall. While no acts are listed on the poster, the film featured performances by the Association, Hugh Masekela, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Country Joe & the Fish, Simon & Garfunkel, the Mamas & the Papas, Canned Heat, Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Otis Redding with the Bar-Kays and Booker T. & the MG's, Ravi Shankar, Jefferson Airplane, the Who and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. A GREAT-looking example of this iconic late-'60's festival documentary poster!
