Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 21&3/4" concert/event poster for the 1st Northern California Folk-Rock Festival, held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, CA on 5/18-19/1968. Poster lists performances by Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Country Joe & the Fish, the Animals, Taj Mahal, Ravi Shankar, Electric Flag, Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), the Youngbloods and Kaleidoscope (with David Lindley). Also appeared (not listed): the Grateful Dead, Crome Syrcus, Trans-Atlantic Railroad and more. Design by Carson Morris Studios, the image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 232 (plate 2.341). Medium-thin flat index stock poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are a couple of small edge tears scattered around the outer margin area, along with a touch of curl to the paper from being rolled, a few ultra-thin stress/handling bends hiding within the image area and a pair of hairline-thin diagonal bends in the upper right corner, otherwise fine. A VERY nice-looking example of this perennially popular Jim Morrison image from the Art of Rock. Check out a fascinating super-8 film clip of Big Brother, the Youngbloods and Jefferson Airplane in action at the event; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oozIAimjDXM
