Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" concert poster (OP-2 in the Eric King guide, thin stock version) for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and the New Tweedy Brothers at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 6/10-11/1966. Art by (and SIGNED in pencil by) Wes Wilson, image ("The Quick & the Dead") is # 12 in the Family Dog/Avalon series and marks the first time a skeleton was used to advertise a Dead show. Medium-thin flat vellum stock poster has been professionally restored to very good (B/B+) condition; there is fairly extensive amount of edge/corner repair (sealed tears, paper fills) and the piece was bleached to remove staining, leaving behind a fairly pronounced moisture wave to the paper, along with a couple of remaining surface dings, a tiny pull on the second "l" of "Ballroom" and a tiny handling/stress bend or two, otherwise fine. A very acceptable ARTIST-SIGNED example of this VERY early (and HIGHLY elusive) 1st printing Family Dog poster.
