 ITEM DESCRIPTION
Pair of original 1st printing 10&7/8 x 14&3/4" concert posters for the Grateful Dead appearing with the Power of Evil, OM and Hemp Plant on 10/14/1967 and the Seeds appearing with Kid Afrika and the Flowers on 10/21/1967, both at the Continental Ballroom in Santa Clara, CA, along with a 1st-edition copy of "Guru" (Volume 1, issue #1), a locally-produced underground rock-scene newspaper (in which both posters were originally distributed).

Art by (and SIGNED (both posters) and dated (2016) in blue pen by) Frank Cannon, medium-thin semi-gloss textured stock (Grateful Dead) and thin flat index stock (Seeds) posters are both in excellent to near mint (B+ to B+/A-) condition; each poster has a few minor handling dings and a stray edge/corner ding or two, but overall both items are in REALLY nice shape.

The newspaper (11 x 14&7/8", 8 pages total on thin newsprint) has a touch of toning and a hint of spine/edge wear, but for the most part it is in GREAT condition for an almost 50-year-old newspaper- completely intact, no torn/missing/doodled pages.

EXTREMELY cool ARTIST-SIGNED set of original items from the South Bay's answer to the Fillmore!

Q Hi Brad: Quick question. You mention toning on the newspaper but not on the posters. From your pictures it appears there is toning on the far left of the Dead poster and significant toning on the right side of the Weeds poster. Is that true? By the way you have some great items in this auction. Thanks, Barry  posted by: barryo  8/22/2017 12:04:44 PM
