Original 1st printing 17&3/8 x 22&3/8" event/concert poster for the 6/4-5/1970 Trans Continental Pop Festival, held at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This show (the final stop on the legendary "Festival Express" train tour across Canada) featured performances by the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, the Band, Buddy Guy, Delaney & Bonnie, Mashmakan, Charlebois, James & the Good Brothers, Eric Andersen, Mountain, Ian & Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird, Tom Rush, John Sebastian and Smith. Design by Ken Walker and John Lown, image (identical image from the Toronto stop) is featured in the art of Rock on page 376 (plate 4.132). Thin flat index stock Poster is in excellent (B+) condition; a tiny 1/4" tear in the lower left margin, a stray handling/pinch ding or two, a whisper of surface wear and a couple of nearly-invisible edge dings, otherwise it is an absolutely GORGEOUS example of this oft-requested poster. A very cool artifact from a legendary tour (immortalized in the film "Festival Express"), check out raw footage of the Dead performing "Lovelight" on 7/4 HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJhnOq2q3ag
