Original 1st printing 16&3/4 x 21&3/4" concert/event poster for the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival, held at Griffin Hollow Amphitheater on the campus of St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada from 9/6-8/1974. Design by Gary Kell (Rainbow Graphics), image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 397 (plate 4.199). Acts listed on the poster include: the James Brown Revue, Sun Ra & His Arkestra, the Persuasions, the John Nicholas Blues All-stars with Hubert Sumlin and S.P. Leary (9/6), Charles More's Shattering Effect, the Lyman Woodard Organization, the Eddie Nuccilli Big Band, Kenn Cox and Mixed Bag (9/7- afternoon), Luther Allison, the Cecil Taylor Unit, Jimmy Dawkins Blues Band, Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers and Ursula Walker (9/7- evening), John Lee Hooker, Junior Walker and the All-Stars, Johnnie May Matthews, Boogie Woogie Red, Little Junior Cannady, One String Sam (9/8- afternoon) and B.B. King, the Gil Evans Orchestra, Albert Collins, Sunnyland Slim & the Blue Spirit Band and Robert Junior Lockwood (9/8- evening). Medium-thin glossy stock poster is in FANTASTIC near mint (A-/B+ to B+) condition; aside from a few stray fingerprints/light handling dings, a tiny 1/4" puncture tear in the lower left margin and a tiny bend in the top right corner tip, it is a nearly-unbeatable example of the '74 Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz poster. GREAT "Payback"-era James Brown photo on this one.
