Original 1st (thin left/right margin, no "Distributed By" credit or additional David Byrd credit) printing 18&1/4 x 26&1/2" concert poster for the Who performing their rock opera "Tommy" ("the Final Performance") at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York, NY on 6/7/1970. Art by David Byrd, image (the wide-margin 2nd printing) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 404 (plate 4.221). Medium-thin glossy silver stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; a hairline-thin 2&1/2" horizontal crease in the upper right border of the image area, a couple of tiny bends and a pair of thin edge nip tears in the lower right margin/corner, a couple of extra-thin bends along the bottom edge, a tiny pressure bump in the top left corner tip and a stray soft pinch ding or two, otherwise fine. INCREDIBLY HARD-TO-FIND ORIGINAL 1st-edition version of this poster, this version almost NEVER comes up, let alone in such nice shape. Check out the photo of Bill Graham with one of these exact same (thin margin) posters hanging in his office at the Fillmore East!
