Original 1st printing 17&3/4 x 24" boxing-style concert/event poster for the 6/30-7/3/1961 Newport Jazz Festival, held at Festival Field in Newport, RI. The lineup included an AMAZING selection of performers over the four-day event; Louis Armstrong, Maynard Ferguson, Cannonball Adderly, Dave Brubeck, Carmen McRae, Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, Ramsey Lewis (6/30), Count Basie, Chico Hamilton, John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Norman Miller and the Jazzmen, Gloria Lynne, Jazztet, Bill Henderson (7/1), Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Sarah Vaughan, Art Blakey, James Moody, George Shearing, Eddie Harris, Al Minns & Leon James, Jon Hendricks' Evolution of the Blues with Maynard Ferguson's Big Band and Oscar Brown, Jr. (7/2) and Judy Garland, Duke Ellington, Miriam Makeba, Slide Hampton, Cal Tjader, Oscar Peterson, Quincy Jones, Bernard and Cleo and Mel Torme (7/3) Thick cardboard stock letterpress silkscreen poster (printed by E.J. Warner Poster Corp.) is in good/very good (B to B/B+) condition; a fair amount of staining/discoloration and edge wear along the left margin, a 2" piece of clear tape on the "r" of "Bernstein", a few stray edge dings, a tiny split in the top left corner tip, a few tiny surface scuffs and tiny scratches here and there, a tiny tear in the top left/center margin and a couple of light corner creases in the upper/lower left corners, otherwise fine. INCREDIBLY cool large boxing-style Newport Jazz poster with an unbeatable lineup of talent. Check out John Coltrane's set HERE; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek_Esb1sdbk
