C. 1968-70 8&1/2 x 11" ORIGINAL pen/india ink artwork on the reverse of a piece of glossy photographic paper featuring a stylized rendition of a porpoise skull. Art by (and SIGNED in pencil by) the one and only Rick Griffin, this piece is VERY clean overall.... just a few tiny pin-prick surface marks and a pair of tiny scuffs in the lower left corner, otherwise it is as sharp as can be. ULTRA-COOL-LOOKING SIGNED Rick Griffin ORIGINAL ART from the late-'60's! According to the consignor, Rick was walking along a beach (high on LSD) when he spotted the skull poking out of the sand and decided to immortalize it in ink. This was apparently right around the time he was working on "The Man From Utopia", "ZAP Comix" and the Steppenwolf "Monster" album cover... the same highly stylized line work is present on this piece. A ONE-OF-A-KIND Griffin original!
