Original 1st printing 5&1/2 x 7&1/4" concert handbill for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and Blue Cheer at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 1/17/1968.

 Art by Allen "Gut" Terk, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 181 (plate 2.169). 

 Medium-thin flat index card stock handbill is in superb near mint (A-) condition; aside from a whisper of handling, it is basically as bright/crisp/fresh as the day it was issued.

 VERY clean example of the "Ben Franklin's Birthday" handbill. This was also the unofficial opening night of the Carousel as a band-managed venue. Check out a GREAT-sounding recording of the show HERE:
