Original 1st printing 13 x 20" silkscreen concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Universal Parking Lot (*not billed- late addition) in a benefit for the Lick Wilmerding School (an early alternative private school), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 12/27/1966.
Art by P. Linenthal, thick flat pulpy vellum stock hand-pulled silkscreen poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there is an approximately 3" diagonal bend in the lower right corner, a small pressure crease/bend in the top center margin, tiny diagonal bends in the top left/right corners, light handling wear, a couple of small corner tip bumps, a few light bends/stress creases scattered around the image area and a set of tape pulls on the reverse, otherwise fine.
Really interesting/unusual oddball early (1966) Avalon benefit poster, these posters come in several different color combinations- this is the yellow/black ink version (there is also a yellow/blue version). The handbill for this show (completely different image) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 106 (plate 2.17).
