 ITEM DESCRIPTION
Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" benefit concert poster (to provide funding for a community center in Mississippi and for medical aid to Vietnam), held at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 3/12/1967.

Poster ("Phoenix Dance" or "Phoenix-Sunflower Benefit") lists appearances by Quicksilver Messenger Service, along with Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Country Joe & the Fish and the Steve Miller Blues Band.

Art by Michael Hubbard, image is not a numbered Bill Graham/Fillmore image (this show falls on the same date as the BG 54 show) and is featured in the Art of Rock on page 145 (plate 2.47).

Medium-thick vellum stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; aside from a very soft approximately 8" diagonal bend in the lower left margin and, a tiny bend in the lower right corner, a stray edge ding or two and just the slightest trace of handling/surface wear, it is a nearly-clean example of this semi-scarce weird-looking early-'67 Fillmore benefit poster with an all-star San Francisco lineup.
