Original 1st printing 17&7/8 x 23&7/8" concert/event poster for the (proposed) 3rd Sky River Rock Festival, held near Seattle, WA from 8/28-9/8/1970. Design by Michael Carson, poster lists a number of invited musical acts (Big Brother, Barry Melton, Boz Scaggs, Dan Hicks, Joy of Cooking, A.B. Skhy, Commander Cody, Dry Creek Road, Rhythm Dukes, Jef Jaisun and MANY more), along with workshops and a prospectus on purchasing a deed for land to host the festival (this is the "town meeting" aspect mentioned above) Medium flat index stock poster is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; numerous folds/creases, a large surface stain in the right center margin, a fairly heavy degree of edge/corner/surface wear, a few stray holes/scuffs, etc... there is NO DOUBT that this poster was pulled down from public display in 1970, it is definitely on the used side. Conditional issues notwithstanding, it is a fascinating document of the ongoing Sky River concern that started with the infamous 1968 Festival and subsequently became much more of an issue with local authorities each time it was re-attempted. A real neat piece of Pacific Northwest rock history.
