Original 1st printing/1st state (initial lineup) 17&3/8 x 23" concert/event poster for the 8/31-9/1/1969 New Orleans Pop Festival, held at the Baton Rouge International Raceway in Prairieville, LA. Art by St. Germain, this version of the poster lists festival participants Canned Heat, Chicago Transit Authority, Janis Joplin, the Byrds, Grateful Dead, Oliver, Spiral Staircase, Country Joe & the Fish, It's A Beautiful Day, Santana, the Youngbloods, a "Custom Bike Show", "Heavy Fireworks Display" and more (the bottom margin adds Dr. John the Night Tripper and Tyrannosaurus Rex (featuring Marc Bolan). Not listed (but did appear): Jefferson Airplane, Lee Michaels, Sweetwater, Cat Mother and a host of local acts. Thin flat index stock poster is in decent (B) condition; this one has tape pulls in all four corners and in the top center margin with a small 1/2" nip out of the top right corner, a light to moderate degree of toning, a 2" diagonal bend in the lower left corner, a small tape stain in the bottom center margin, a few semi-soft handling bends traversing the image area and a stray edge ding or two, otherwise fine. GREAT-looking 1st printing 1969 festival poster with a really interesting design and an unbeatable lineup. The poster was redesigned slightly when some of the acts changed, this 1st-state version is a bit harder to find.
