Original 1st printing (small edition) 12&1/4 x 21&3/8" concert/event poster for the first and only Monterey International Pop Festival, held at the Monterey (CA) Fairgrounds Arena (and surrounding area) from 6/16-18/1967. Art by Tom Wilkes, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 258 (plate 3.5). While no acts are listed, the now-legendary three day event featured performances by the Association, Laura Nyro, Lou Rawls, Hugh Masekela, Eric Burdon and the Animals, the Byrds, the Blues Project, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, the Electric Flag, Moby Grape, Country Joe & the Fish, the Blues Project, Steve Miller Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Al Kooper, the Paupers, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Rivers, the Mamas & the Papas, Canned Heat, Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Otis Redding with the Bar-Kays and Booker T. & the MG's, Ravi Shankar, the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, the Who and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Thick foil-coated index stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there are a series of semi-pronounced small bends in the upper left corner and along the right-hand margin, a few ultra-subtle surface scratches and scuffs, a thin 2" diagonal bend in the upper right corner, a tiny bit of peeling in the top right corner tip, a 2" diagonal stress crease going through the "ter" of "International", a 1" vertical stress crack going through the bottom center margin of the interior image border, along with a octet of masking tape remnants on the reverse, otherwise fine. One of the ALL-TIME classics of the psychedelic era from an important cornerstone event in late-'60's rock history. Here's audio of the Jefferson Airplane's full set (complete with a very amusing introduction by none other than Jerry Garcia); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWM_fmB0Of0
