Original 1st printing 5&1/2 x 8&1/2" concert/event handbill for the 1st Northern California Folk-Rock Festival, held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, CA from 5/18-19/1969. *This is an early preliminary lineup/1st-state version. Handbill lists: Ravi Shankar, the Doors, Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Buffalo Springfield (with Neil Young and Steven Stills), Country Joe & the Fish, (Eric Burdon and) the Animals, People and more. Design by Linda Segul, medium-thin flat index stock handbill is in decent (B/B-) condition; there is a bit of soiling/smudging, a few thin diagonal corner bends, an edge nick (tack hole remnant) in the top center margin, a series of thin pin-prick stains hiding within the image area/margins, a pair of tiny tears in the left/right center margins, light handling... the photo should show pretty clearly what's up with this one. Despite the conditional issues on this piece, it remains a fascinating '68 festival artifact with an early/preliminary lineup that is quite a bit different from the eventual finalized version.
