 ITEM DESCRIPTION

 Original 1st printing 11&3/4 x 21&1/4" concert/event poster for the (second) Miami Pop Festival, held at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, FL from 12/28-30/1968.

 Acts listed on the poster include: Jose Feliciano, Procol Harum, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Country Joe & the Fish, Three Dog Night, Chuck Berry, the Infinite McCoys, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Fleetwood Mac, Pacific Gas & Electric and Blues Image (12/28), Steppenwolf, Marvin Gaye, Grateful Dead, Hugh Masekela, Flatt & Scruggs, the Butterfield Blues Band, Joni Mitchell, Procol Harum (again), the James Cotton Blues Band, Richie Havens and the Box Tops (featuring Alex Chilton) (12/29), Jose Feliciano (again), Iron Butterfly , the Turtles, Canned Heat, Grass Roots, Jr. Walker and the All-Stars, Ian & Sylvia, the Charles Lloyd Quartet, Sweet Inspirations, Sweetwater and the Joe Tex Revue (12/30).

 Design by Procity, thick foil-coated glossy stock poster is in good/decent (B/B-) condition; there is a prominent 7&1/4" hard diagonal bend and a soft 3" crease in the upper left corner and a slightly softer 4" bend/crease in the upper right margin (just beneath "Festival"), plus a series of tiny pin-prick surface indentations (tiny impressions likely from gravel/rocks) covering the image area, a series of light surface scuffs and tiny scratches (the word "poster" is lightly scratched into the paper just to the left of "James Cotton"), a bit of edge/corner wear (numerous tiny bends/dings), a set of tiny staple holes in each of the four corners, along with a bit of tape residue and a couple of light tape pulls on the reverse, otherwise fine. As you can clearly see, this example was almost certainly pulled down from public display at the time of the event. Conditional issues aside (they ALL seem to have some sort of wear/tear), this one still presents itself quite nicely.

 Uncommon (and REALLY cool-looking) hard-to-find South Florida festival item with a great pop art/psychedelic design and a VERY eclectic lineup of rock, folk, jazz, R&B, bluegrass and pop. Name a popular music genre, it was likely represented at Gulfstream Park. You can stream the Grateful Dead's set (one of their best of 1968) HERE;
