 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 11 x 16&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing at the Old Renaissance Fairgrounds in Veneta, OR on 8/27/1972 (show was a benefit for the Kesey family-operated Springfield Creamery, and was "sponsored" by their main product, "Nancy's Honey of Yog(h)urt").

Art by Richard Sutton, medium-thick flat index goldenrod stock poster has been professionally restored to very good/excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; a series of small tears in the image area and around the outer margin area (lower left corner, along the right-hand margin, upper left margin (around the "G" of "Grateful" and in a few other areas) have been filled/sealed, leaving behind minor discolored/light areas (nothing too serious), plus there is a light amount of surface rubbing in addition to a few tiny scuffs and dings here and there, but overall it looks pretty decent.

As a note of provenance, this particular example comes directly from a long-time band associate who very likely worked at the event (and MANY others).

As it also goes without much explanation, this benefit concert was also the LEGENDARY Merry Prankster-fueled party that later became known as the "Field Trip"; the all-day event was filmed ("Sunshine Daydream", which was FINALLY officially released in 2013), and by all accounts was one of the hottest, sweatiest, naked-est, craziest bacchanals the Pranksters ever held; check out the film HERE:
