Original 12&3/8" square (appx.- edges are hand-trimmed) ORIGINAL MIXED-MEDIA ARTWORK (using a combination of collage/pencil on oak tag/vellum (several different types of paper were used as overlays on this one), created as a proposal for an unknown Grateful Dead project. Image was created by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley sometime in the mid-1970's (signed VERY lightly by both in light green pencil in the lower right corner) and features a great rendering of a winged eyeball with reptile talons floating above the moon... VERY trippy piece, reminiscent of Kelley's cover design for "The Book of the Dead". There are a few marks and small stains scattered around the edges (and a few within the image area), along with a couple of pieces of clear tape in the upper left/right edges of the lettering area (used to affix the lettering as an overlay) and a couple of tiny bends/tears along the edges of the collage and around the hand-cut areas, but overall it is in decent shape for being over 40 years old. KILLER-looking Mouse/Kelley-designed mid-'70's Grateful Dead image, this piece came right out of Mouse's studio.
