Original 12&5/8" square HAND-PAINTED (acrylic/watercolor/ink with pencil underlines) ORIGINAL ARTWORK (on medium-thin vellum sketch pad paper), created as a proposal for the 1977 Santana album, "Moonflower". Art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley (executed sometime in 1976/77 and SIGNED by both in black razor-tip felt pen), design features a GORGEOUS depiction of a flower blooming within a moonlit circle, surrounded by a partial halo of leaves... VERY pretty design. Alas, it was never completed as the band went with a more basic photographic image for the eventual cover. There are a few light smudges and dings here and there and a few soft handling marks and stray surface stains, but overall it is in really nice shape. The reverse has a small piece of tracing paper with the "Santana" lettering (in graphite pencil), presumably used as a guide for the lettering on the front (this piece came right out of the artist's studio). INCREDIBLE-looking ORIGINAL 1970's Mouse/Kelley Santana piece! Stream the album HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2-EeDRV_VA
