Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" 48-page concert/event program for the 7/23-26/1964 Newport Folk Festival, held at Freebody Park and St. Michael's School in Newport, R.I. Design by Stacey Williams, Linda Solomon, Robert Yellin, Irwin Rosenhouse (cover) and more, program contains photos, essays, ads for local and national businesses, record/management companies, short bios on performers and a full schedule of events. Participants in this edition of the annual event included: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Jose Feliciano, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, Peter, Paul & Mary, Elizabeth Cotton, Jesse Fuller, Doc Watson, Judy Collins, Tom Paxton, Mississippi John Hurt, Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Phil Ochs, Odetta, Johnny Cash and MANY more. Medium-thin flat index stock interior (glossy-coated index card stock stock cover) program is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; a bit of scuffing/rubbing wear and a hint of moisture warp to the cover with a bit of toning/age-related staining and a few loose drip marks on the reverse, a slight degree of moisture rippling/"baconing" and a VERY slight discoloration to the outer edges of the interior pages and a slight diagonal bend in the lower left corner (goes through both covers and on all of the interior pages), otherwise fine- no cut/missing pages, scribbling or additional wear, a full/complete example. REALLY neat early/mid-'60's "protest song-era" Newport Folk Festival artifact. Here's Bob Dylan performing "Mr. Tambourine Man" from the Sunday show; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeP4FFr88SQ
