Original 1st (only) printing 14 x 20" event poster for a performance of (beat poet) Michael McClure's one-act play, "The Beard", held at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 7/24/1966.

 

 Art by (and SIGNED in silver ink by) Wes Wilson, image is # 19 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series and is one of the only early (pre-1967) Bill Graham numbered series posters that was not reprinted.

 

 Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are a series of small pin/tack holes scattered around the top/bottom margins, along with a pair of wedge-shaped drag pulls in the top/bottom left corners (the top left corner has a tiny 1/8" piece of clear tape on the reverse for reinforcement), a series of thin vertical stress bends hiding within the image area, a touch of toning, a couple of stray soft pinch dings and a few extra-tiny pin-prick age/rust spots here and there, otherwise it is a great-looking example of the BG 19 with strong colors and a nice large Wes Wilson signature.
