Set of FOUR (4) original commemorative bar glasses for select shows held at the Family Dog at 1601 West Evans in Denver, CO in 1967/68. Sets were given away as gifts for former employees of Colorado promoter Barry Fey. Set consists of the following;
10 oz. commemorative glass mug created for the Grateful Dead's performances at the Family Dog from 9/22-23/1967. This glass corresponds with image # 82/D-2 in the Family Dog/Denver series.
12 oz. commemorative Pilsener-style glass created for Big Brother & the Holding Company's performances at the Family Dog from 9/1-2/1967. This glass corresponds with image # 79/D-1 in the Family Dog/Denver series. *this glass is much thinner than the others and has a tiny chip along the top rim.
6 oz. commemorative "rocks" glass created for the Doors performance at the Family Dog on 9/30/1967. This glass corresponds with # 84/D-4 in the Family Dog/Denver series.
7 oz. commemorative "highball" glass created for the Cream performance at the Family Dog on 3/19/1968 (show was rescheduled).
VERY interesting set of Family Dog Denver items! The story that I was told was that these glasses were issued to Barry Fey's employees from the Denver Dog era to commemorate some of the bigger sold-out shows at the venue. I have no additional information beyond what I've already heard (such as exactly when they were produced), but the set originally came from an estate sale with a collection of Barry Fey concert ephemera, all of which was original.
A one-of-a-kind set of bar glasses, strictly for sophisticated legal beverage-imbibing Dog enthusiasts. Bottoms up!
