Original 1st printing 14 x 20" concert poster for a series of shows held at the New Penelope (Coffee House) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from 5/18-9/3/1967. Acts listed include: Gordon Lightfoot (5/18-21), the Blues Project (5/22-27), the Paul Butterfield Blues Band (5/29-6/10), Josh White (6/12-17) and the Sidetrack (6/21-9/3). These shows were sponsored by Elektra and Verve/Folkways Records in association with Expo '67 (hosted in Montreal over the summer of '67). Art by Arthur Taxier, image is one of only a few posters (7 total, I believe) created by Liberty Graphics advertising shows at NYC's Cafe Au Go-Go (and elsewhere- this is the only poster from Canada); they were distributed by the poster shop upstairs from the C.A.G.G. ("The Infinite Poster"). Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; an ultra-minor amount of edge wear (a couple of small nicks along the upper left/lower right margins and a tiny edge bend or two), a fair amount of curling to the paper and a few tiny stress bends from being rolled, a tiny pen scratch on the reverse ("New Penelope" in the lower left margin), otherwise fine. BEAUTIFUL mod/psychedelic design on this one, a great-looking period piece. Here's a neat little background story on Expo '67 with an amusing anecdote about Frank Zappa and the Mothers appearing at the New Penelope the previous winter; http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=823556a4-3299-42ec-a52e-844f6838df32
