Original 1st printing (1st state- thick cardboard stock version) 28&1/8 x 22" concert/event poster for the Second Annual Atlanta International Pop Festival, held in Byron, GA from 7/3-5/1970. Art by Lance Bragg, image (the third/final state thin paper version with several lineup changes) is featured in the Art of Rock on page 390 (plate 4.178) -this is the ORIGINAL version that was distributed before the lineup (and artwork) was altered. Poster lists festival participants the Allman Brothers Band, B.B. King, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, the Chambers Brothers, Country Joe & the Fish, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Richie Havens, Jimi Hendrix, the Hampton Grease Band, Yogi Bhajan, Taos, Ballin' Jack, Bloodrock, John B. Sebastian, Jethro Tull, Sly & the Family Stone, Spirit, Terry Reid, Cactus and Gypsy, along with a "Symposium of Awareness", a giant fireworks show, super jam sessions and more. Several acts not mentioned on this version were added later, including Procol Harum, Mountain, Ten Years After, Ravi Shankar and It's A Beautiful Day (replacing Country Joe and Sly, both of whom dropped off the bill.). Thick cardboard stock poster is in absolutely STUNNING near mint (A- to A-/B+) condition; aside from a touch of edge toning and an almost-invisible tiny horizontal stress bend going down the right side of the hand, this is just about as bright/crisp an example as you can hope to find anywhere. A GORGEOUS FIRST-VERSION of this iconic festival poster that has been carefully preserved for the last 45 years by someone who helped to build the stage (among other duties).
