Original 1st printing 20 x 14&1/8" (small version) concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) appearing with Blue Cheer and Eighth Penny Matter at the Family Dog at 1601 West Evans in Denver, CO on 9/8-9/1967. Art by (and SIGNED in black flair pen and hand-embossed with a "Heart & Torch" stamp by) Rick Griffin, image is # 79/D-1- the VERY FIRST image in the Family Dog/Denver series. This is the small format (OP-1 in the Eric King Guide) version. Medium flat index stock poster is in good (B) condition; a thin semi-pronounced vertical/diagonal bend going from the top to bottom edge (just above the "Fa" of "Family" down to the "i" of "Big"), a 2" bend in the lower left corner, a set of tack holes, light handling, a few small pin-prick age spots scattered around the image area, a light to moderate amount of handling wear, a touch of toning and a few stray edge dings, otherwise fine. While this example isn't going to win any beauty contests, the small-version 1st printing of this poster has been getting harder and harder to find. The RG signature on this one is particularly cool.
