Original 1st printing 11 x 14" 1964 cardboard boxing-style "tour blank" format concert poster for Texas blues/rock legend Johnny "Cool Daddy" Winter and His Crystaliers (Ronnie Becker (bass), Edgar Winter (drums), Willard Chamberland (saxophone) and Don Duron (piano). Designer unknown, medium-thick cardboard stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; a set of tack holes (all four corners, top/bottom center), a bit of moisture staining along the bottom edge, a series of small pin-prick age spots and soft stains, a hint of toning, a couple of minor corner bumps, a stray edge ding/bend or two and a series of tape pulls, a bit of pen scratch and a couple of pieces of masking tape on the reverse, otherwise fine. Now, on to the FASCINATING provenance; according to our consignor, the late Keith Ferguson (first bass player of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and a truly interesting guy in his own right) obtained this poster directly from Johnny Winter’s parents during a visit to Beaumont (Johnny and Edgar's home town) in the early 1970s. This is the EXACT SAME poster that is referenced on a November 1978 Armadillo World Headquarters poster drawn by Micael Priest (see additional photo- for reference purposes only; in small print, Micael thanks Keith Ferguson for loaning this poster as a "model" for his poster). Years later, Keith sold this Johnny Winter poster to a collector who eventually traded it to the consignor. A TRULY scarce and VERY cool early-'60's Johnny Winter tour blank.
