Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" boxing-style concert flyer for Texas teen garage band the 5th Wheel appearing at the Carousel Skating Rink in Houston, TX on 6/24/1967.

Designer unknown, thin flat stock flyer is in fantastic mint/near mint (A/A- to A-) condition; with the exception of a whisper of edge toning and a tiny stray surface indentation or two, it is a VERY clean example of a VERY obscure Texas item from the mid-'60's Houston garage scene. These kids look all of about 15 years old, at most.

Q Just saw this 12.29.15. It was designed and printed by my father. Richard"Dick"Parker was the owner of the Carousel From '63-'89. He had a two color printing press in a back storeroom and printed all the flyers, discount passes, and schedules himself. It was great to see it. I have only only one myself. It was for a band called the Ktels. The dances were held after the last skating session on weekends. I think he paid the local garage bands$50.00-$100.00. He had a Five band "battle of the bands" and the winner got a whopping $200.00. Alot of money for 16 year olds back then. Go to "The Carousel Skating rink Alumni Group" on FB to see more about the Carousel. It is an Open Group. Be Cool, Kenny Parker.  posted by: parker77581@aol  12/29/2015 10:03:52 AM
