Original 1st printing 13 x 20" silkscreen concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Universal Parking Lot (*not billed- late addition) appearing together in a benefit for the Lick Wilmerding School (an early alternative private school), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 12/27/1966.
Art by P. Linenthal, thick flat pulpy vellum stock hand-pulled silkscreen poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; a set of staple holes and a couple of small diagonal bends in each of the four corners, a soft dime-sized tape residue stain in the bottom left corner, a few tiny surface scuffs here and there and a thin horizontal bend in the upper right margin (through the right side of "Fantastic"), otherwise fine.
Real unusual oddball early (1966) Avalon benefit poster, these posters come in several different color combinations- this is the yellow/blue ink version (there is also a yellow/black version). The handbill for this show (completely different image) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 106 (plate 2.17).
