Original 1st printing 1st state (no acts listed) 13&5/8 x 22&3/8" concert/event poster for the Woodstock Music and Arts Fair Aquarian Exposition in Walkill (*moved to White Lake), NY on 8/15-17.1969.
Art by David Byrd, image (along with the final White Lake offset version) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 257 (plate 3.2)
While this early 1st state poster advertises no acts, performers at the now-legendary 3-day event included: Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Tim Hardin, Richie Havens, the Incredible String Band, Bert Sommer, Ravi Shankar, Sweetwater, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater (Revival), the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Keef Hartley, the Who, Janis Joplin, Mountain, the Band, Joe Cocker & the Grease Band, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Johnny Winter, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Ten Years After, Sly & the Family Stone, Country Joe & the Fish, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, John Sebastian, Quill and Sha-Na-Na.
Medium glossy-coated index stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; physically, the poster is in great shape- maybe there are a few tiny surface marks/fingerprints here and there and a whisper of edge/corner bumping, but as this example was in a frame and presumably exposed to sunlight, the color has faded and a fair amount of the orange/green half-tone is diminished.
Still a very decent-looking original 1st printing David Byrd Woodstock poster, perfect for an entry-level collector. Check out the original 1969 CBS News report!
