 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 22&1/2 x 28&1/4" untrimmed printer's proof sheet of (4) 11" square concert mini-posters for the Grateful Dead appearing with Country Joe & the Fish at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on Valentine's Day, 2/14/1968.

Art by Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley, image ("Be Mine") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 182 (plate 2.174), this is a VERY uncommon color variant featuring an extra pass of yellow ink, which turns the borders and a couple of other prominent areas GREEN.

Medium-thick flat index stock sheet is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; there is a pronounced curl to the paper from being rolled up for many years, a fair amount of handling/creasing, a 1" chunk of paper out of the right center margin, a few small edge tears and dings along the top edge, a set of tack holes (all four corners), a few stray surface dings/smudges, age spots/light stains, stress bends, etc.. still not that bad, especially considering how uncommon it is.

SUPER-SCARCE and VERY COOL uncut variant of one of the most beloved Dead/Mouse/Kelley images, this example comes from a member of the Carousel's original staff.

This was one of the more legendary/notorious shows in early '68 Grateful Dead history (the show was released as "Road Trips Volume 2 #2)- Bob Weir's infamous "Burn down the Fillmore, gas the Avalon" chant during "Alligator" was birthed this night, check it out HERE:
