Original 1st printing 5&3/8 x 7&3/4" (trimmed down from 5&1/2 x 8&1/2") concert handbill for the Great Society (featuring Grace Slick) appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & the Holding Company (pre-Janis) and the (original) Grass Roots and at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 2/26/1966. Art by Wes Wilson from a concept by Chet Helms, image ("King Kong Memorial Dance") is # 2 (the second numbered image) in the Family Dog/Avalon series, this is the WHITE stock version. Thin flat stock handbill is in used (B-/C+) condition; aside from the aforementioned trimming, there are staple holes/wear in all four corners, a hint of toning, a soft moisture stain in the upper left corner, a couple of pieces of hard/fossilized tape and pulls on the reverse, semi-flattened horizontal/vertical creases (item was folded into 1/4ths), a 1/2" tear in the bottom left edge/corner and other assorted little dings/creases... definitely a used/worn example. HOWEVER... conditional issues aside, this is still a pretty mighty score for almost any FD collector out there, especially considering how early and outright scarce this handbill is.
