Collection of (7) assorted pieces of 1989-90 Rick Griffin HAND-DRAWN ORIGINAL ART (concept drawings/preliminary) mixed-media (pencil, ink, acrylic paint) sketches for Cutter (skateboard) Trucks (an ad campaign that ran in issues of "Thrasher Magazine"). Unsigned preliminary/mechanical drawings (on sketchpad vellum and tracing paper) originally were obtained right from the Rick Griffin estate in the early 1990's; this project was rendered over a several months in a series of different versions, Rick would submit a number of them to the company for approval... all of them variations on a similar theme. This particular ad campaign relied heavily on the Hopi mask that Rick had adopted as one of his trademark "totems" in the late '60's, along with some SERIOUSLY heavy Gothic-style lettering. As these are all ORIGINAL pieces directly from the artist's studio, a letter grade is essentially irrelevant... however, the pieces are all in pretty decent shape; the tracing paper pieces all have hand-torn/irregular edges and there are a number of handling creases and surface smudges on just about all of them, but as a set they hang together quite nicely... they would look great framed up. One of the pieces has been professionally matted. A REALLY COOL PILE of ORIGINAL RICK GRIFFIN ART all in ONE lot!
