Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" boxing-style concert flyer for the Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown appearing at the Oakland (CA) Coliseum on 7/20/1969. Designer unknown, thin flat stock flyer is in good/decent (B/B- to B-) condition; a number of semi-pronounced creases/handling dings/surface spots/pits scattered around the piece, a small wedge/punch-hole (about 1") just under where it says "See", a series of edge dings and little "notch wedges" around the outer margins, a large diagonal bend going from the bottom left corner tip to just below the "y" of "Community" and other assorted bits of wear and tear... this one was pretty obviously picked up off the street at the time of the event.
VERY unusual J.B. item from the late-'60's "Black & Brown Stamp" project; these were stamp books (similar to "green stamps") that were issued to urban communities across the country. The books could be filled and redeemed for items such as (in this case) concert tickets).
