Original 1st printing 15&7/8 x 22&1/8" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Chuck Berry and Curly Cooke's Hurdy-Gurdy Band at the Carousel Ballroom In San Francisco, CA from 3/29-31/1968. Art by Steve Catron, image ("Acid Dropper" or "Pebble Dropper") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 180 (plate 2.163). Medium flat index stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; light to moderate edge wear/creasing, a small tape pull in the lower left corner, a 1&1/2" bend in the lower right corner, a pronounced curl to the paper (it was rolled up for many years), a subtle candle-wax residue mark (soft stain) around the area of the receptacle (about 3-4" long, it looks like a slight scuff) and another well-hidden dime-sized stain in the bubbles in the right center margin, a tiny pin-prick hole in the top edge, light surface wear/handling and a hint of toning, otherwise it is an overall superb-looking example of this oft-requested image from the Carousel. As a note of provenance, this example comes from one of the principal participants involved in the creation/development of the Carousel Ballroom... impeccable pedigree on this one.
